Yellow Jackets

These wasps are a nuisance in the months of August to October. During this time they create their nests at the base of trees or under porches. Sometimes they do build their nests by buildings and can cause fear to the people who live or work there. Just a colony can have over 1,000 workers. They are attracted to human food and garbage cans. Once winter hits they are no longer a threat because the males and the workers die while the females hibernate.

Yellow jackets are very dangerous and can cause severe allergic reactions to some people. They are very aggressive and can string repeatedly. When you find a nest that is putting your clients, workers, or family in danger, it’s best to call GAM Exterminating to remove the nest. Yellow jacket nests should never be removed by an individual who is not properly trained.
